[Video] Lil Wayne Reportedly Suing Birdman For $8 Million Dollars & Wants Off Cash Money!

It appears the rift between Lil Wayne and Cash Money continues to grow larger and possibly one step closer to the courts, as previously predicted.

TMZ’s reporting that ongoing settlement talks between both sides have broken down and now Wayne’s ready to go to the legal route to gain not only the rights to release Tha Carter V but also $8 million he claims he’s owed.

Weezy’s stance is Cash Money, and label head Birdman, are in violation of the existing contract between the two by not allowing the rapper to release the project. As such, Wayne will also seek to be freed from his contract, thus Birdman’s control. The dollar figure represents the advance money associated with the album.

Throughout the duration of their disagreement, Wayne assertion’s been that Cash Money’s holding both him and the album hostage. He first referenced it in a series of tweets in early December, which were immediately followed by him addressing it on stage during a show in New York days later. Since then, both his manager Cortez Bryant and Young Money president Mack Maine have spoken publicly regarding the situation, denouncing Cash Money’s decision to hold back the album.

For his part, Birdman hasn’t addressed the situation publicly, but it’s said that he was pretty pissedat Tune’s decision to air out their grievances publicly and lyrically on Sorry 4 The Wait 2.

While everything seems to hinge on the album, there’s definitely more to the story lurking underneath. If this whole set of circumstances goes to court, Cash Money’s alleged dirty laundry accumulated over the years could become public record. We’ve seen various other producers and artists sue over unpaid work and heard stories about how unscrupulous their dealings could be through others.

But with Lil Wayne saying it, those claims could take on a lot more weight.
